My kids have already been in school for a week because the school board decided to start the year two weeks earlier than last year, just stealing two weeks of the summer break that we can never get back. They started school(2nd, 4th, and 9th grades) last Thursday. Yes, the first day of school was a Thursday. And then had a complete 5-day week this week. Longest week ever! I’m glad it’s Friday!

I woke up to my alarm for getting the kids ready for school on Tuesday morning, and sincerely believed it was Saturday. It was unquestionably Saturday in my mind and I couldn’t figure out why I had a 6:55am alarm set on Saturday. I actually changed my whole alarm schedule before I realized the actual problem; It was Tuesday.

My teen daughter has zero period for the high school show choir, so everyone is waking up quite early.

It was also our first back to school season with both of the elementary kids as Type 1 diabetics with Celiac Disease, which adds an extra layer of complexity to things like packing school lunches.

The elementary school play is starting and there was a parent meeting Tuesday night, pre-audition(for the kids to learn song and dance) Wednesday, and auditions Thursday. My second grader auditioned.

Fourth graders get to choose between Strings and Vocal Music, and my son wants to do Strings, so there was a(surprise!) parent meeting for that on Wednesday night. On Thursday afternoon we went to the music store and rented a Cello.
