This year, I decided to participate in Suck at Something September. My chosen project was drawing a picture. Yes, I drew one picture. I don’t draw, I don’t even like handwriting things, but the presence of LLM-generated art makes me want to do it anyway.

I drew it by hand on regular white copy paper, with art supplies from my child’s pencil box. I used the book How to Draw Cute Woodland Friends by Angela Nguyen for instruction. The book is very cute. I did not enjoy the drawing process. The reason I don’t hand-draw is that I don’t find it to be fun, not because I think I’m poor at it. I am poor at it, but that wouldn’t stop me if I liked doing it. I think this captures the spirit of Suck at Something September. You can do something that you like or dislike, whether you are skilled or not!

I’m proud of my drawing, and happy I did it. When my youngest child(7) saw me drawing, she was excited, and added some embellishments. I did enjoy that part, when we were doing something together. She truly enjoys drawing, and I love the drawings that she makes. She then requested that we sign both of our names and display it on the fridge.
